Moonlight March
Dan Eckert composed an exciting, energetic and fun march utilizing only brass and percussion. With a wide dynamic range, this piece explores aggressive and loud rhythmic sounds, as well as soft, lyrical solo segments.
Brass instrumentation is 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 1 piccolo trumpet, 2 tenor trombones, 1 bass trombone, 1 contrabass tuba. Percussion section consists of 3 snare drums, a bass drum, timpani, clash cymbals and a tambourine.
Mics are predominantly Main with Ambient and Close a notch below, except for the contrabass tuba, where Close mics are pulled down to 30%. There’s a high attack compressor shaving off 2-3 dB on each bus, and another soft glue compressor on the master to help the brass and percussion gel a bit more, followed by some tape saturation. No external reverb was added at any point.
The demos were performed with Infinite Brass 1.5, while the video below features Infinite Brass 1.4.
